The Pharmacy Technician Certification Program is an intensive 20 week program divided into two 10 week courses. Pharmacy Tech A includes job required skills and responsibilities and 10 hour OSHA Authorization course. Pharmacy Tech B includes Pharmacy mathematics and chemistry with wet lab, Externship, and will conclude with registering for PTCB Certification Exam.
Pharmacy Tech A will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:15-8:15 for 10 weeks beginning Monday, February 1th and ending Wednesday, April 5th. The cost is $225.
Pharmacy Tech B will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:15-8:15 for 10 weeks beginning Monday, April 17th and ending Wednesday, June 21st. The cost is $225.
The course fee includes the course curriculum delivered through Edgenuity educational software and access to a Connecticut certified teacher, but does not include the $129 PTCB exam fee. Please check the PTCB website (www.ptcb.org) for more exam information. Students should bring a calculator to class. Please note that this is a rigorous program that successful completion will require a minimum of 8-10 hours of homework per week.
Students interested in registering for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Program are required to take and pass a math and reading pretest prior to the first night of class. ERACE offers remediation classes in reading and math for students who do not pass the necessary pretests.
Students must have a high school diploma to take Pharmacy Tech B, but may concurrently enroll in a high school completion program during Pharmacy Tech A.
